Used RedSn0w for 4.2 but cydia icon is white and won't open

Ya, that's a tethered jailbreak. U have to use redshift to boot the iPad. Otherwise you aren't jail broken. So, redo the redsnow... This time just click the button to boot the device. Hope this helps

You need redsn0w option "just boot tethered right now"

thanks, got that workin. However, now i cant boot the ipad. It just stays on the apple logo :-/

This jailbreak is tethered and if u shut down or reset the device u have to boot 'just boot tethered right now" everytime.

As it was already mentioned here (and every where else...) 4.2.1 is a tethered Jailbreak, you need to re-run Redsn0w and use the "boot tethered" option every time you reboot your ipad
