I'm going to Miami in the morning for a little more than a week...... can anyone recommend some authentic local restaurants that are family/baby friendly?

Thanks.

Either no one knows any, or there aren't any good restaurants in Miami. :p

We did get take out from Sazon last night, which is a Cuban restaurant nearby. It was quite good.

I know you asked about restaurants, but The Front Porch Cafe is a good place to have breakfast/lunch and people watch. It gets pretty crowded at times, though.

Thanks dmr!

No sweat. It's at a prime location on the sidewalk in South Beach. There's definitely lots to see. It's been awhile though. I get down that way every couple of months, but I'm getting too old to do Miami properly, so I usually just hang out in Lauderdale with the blue hairs. ;)

Miami restaurants

Best Japanese — Matsuri's
Best StoneCrabs (and overall great food) — Joe's (on South Beach--Washington and 1st) Try the Take Out side to avoid the long waits. Take Out has great seating. Excellent Breakfast also.
Best Cuban — Versailles on 8th street. Local classic. Try the Palomilla steak with black beans and rice and plantains. Flan and cuban coffee for dessert.
Best Pizza — Try Spris on Lincoln Road. From 5:00 to 6:30 you pay according to the time you order. Order at 5:10 p.m you pay $5.10.

A few years since I've been there, but Lario's on the Beach was very enjoyable. Not that I'm a connoisseur of Cuban, mind.

I think Gloria Estefan owns/owned it? Not sure what that means. :)

For a man of your wealth and taste, there's a McDonalds on Collins and 15th Street. :p

I also second the Joe's recommendation.

When I head down to SB, I'll be sure to scope it out, and if we could fit a stroller in there, maybe we'll have lunch there.

Well, I'm staying closer to 69th, and fortunately there's a McDonalds at 71st..... And an IHOP almost across the street!!! :D

I've been to Joe's a couple of times, most recently this past summer in Las Vegas. Great place, but the wait at this location sucks.

I went to a fish & seafood place for lunch today called FiFi's. They have coolers full of fresh fish, and they bring you your fish prior to cooking for approval. It was quite good.

We have Versailles in Los Angeles....I believe they are the same restaurant. It's very good.

Booky and Arran, I'll look into your other suggestions...thanks!

For the life of me, I can't remember the name but there's a great seafood restaurant in Hallandale (few miles north of you). It's on Hallandale Beach Blvd, left hand side, right as you go over intercoastal bridge heading west.

Nando?

Shula's Steak House on Collins Ave!

If you eat a 48 oz steak you get your name on a plaque on the wall, what could be more fun!?

Lario's

It is Gloria Estefans restaurant. Its on Collins Ave in South Beach, in the heart of the action, and the food is GREAT! I can give you a few spots to go to, but they are in Broward county, near the Bank Atlantic Center, if you are going to a Panther game. IM me.

^^^^ thanks The.316

I think that Lario's is a bit out of the question with my 8 month old though....

It doesn't look like the Panthers game is happening.

We're heading to Fort Lauderdale and South Beach on the weekend.

I had no idea that Wolfie's and Rascal House closed down. :(

I happened to stop in the Rascal House for a sandwich as I was heading to the airport and by coincidence, it was their last day in business. Sad. I had many a great meal there over the years.
