Im looking for a fast ssd solution for my mac pro. What drives work?

i was looking for years before stumbling across these, don't have either myself, nor have ever seen any reviews but look like they would work. i like the idea of using the bare chassis and filling it with better drives than the western digital, but i think there is an issue with that one only being for 32 bit OS
 

Not bootable, though, which is what I expect from both OWC and OCZ.

I hope we'll see some bootable PCIe SSD's in the near future cause even if the get SATA 6Gb/s in the next MP revision, the 6Gb/s SSD's will already saturate this bus and a new SATA release is far, far away, if there will be a new release at all.

For fast storage, PCIe definitely is the way to go.
 
Newbie question, would SSDs like this be bottlenecked being they are on PCI? Or could they be used to their full potential?

With a maximum transfer rate of 133MB/s, a PCI bus would cut the performance of a single SSD by 50%.

I doubt that there are even PCI cards that provide the features like the cards above.

Damn, thats a big hit. So who would this product benefit? Someone who already has all 4 HD Bays filled?

I think you misunderstand - you asked for the speed of PCI, whereas the devices being mentioned operate through PCIe or PCIe 2.0, which are much faster interconnects.

Ahh, thanks for the clear up on that.

How fast do the PCIe/2.0 connect? Fast enough to utilize such an array obviously?
