My iphone never lock canada version

is there any trick to search is that phone 100 % factory unlock
because i know some is carrier unlock, too

thanks

I thought the unlock process consisted on sending information to an Apple server stating that a particular iPhone is unlocked or not, so it really doesn't matter.

Anyway i'm not sure.

In canada I think if you buy with a contract it is unlocked. Unlike us though I think you have a chance to unlock after the contract is out.

Carrier unlock also accesses the same servers that Apple uses for their factory unlocked phones. Both are permanent unlocks; one is not superior to the other.

Stick another micro-sim card from a different carrier into the phone. If the phone powers on, doesn't display an error message and you can place a call then the phone is unlocked and ready to go. Also make sure that it isn't jailbroken and unlocked as you can easily be fooled by this too.

In Canada, the only place to obtain the factory unlocked iPhones is from an Apple Retail Store or Apple.ca. And they must pay the full price for the phone. If they paid any cheaper then that phone is locked to that specific carrier.
