Is there any way to do SMS over wi-fi/3g but still have my AT&T mobile number appear on the receiver's end?
 
nope, only way to keep your same # is to have the same service company it was with. what you can try is google voice. there's an app for that now but I can't get the push notifications to work but other than that it is good and it gives u a local phone number plus u can use it via wifi or edge or whatever internet plan u pay for.
