I'm looking for a headset (headphones + microphone/remote) extension for iPhone / iPad / iPod. 99% of all the cables are audio only (two lines).

The rest claimto be iPhone compatible, for instance:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320794631784

Everything looks fine, until you receive the cable in realize, that it doesn't work, because only one connector has three pins, the other only two, plus the cable has only two lines.

To sum it up - does anyone has any idea, where one could buy a confirmed working cable? Thanks!

What length do you need? Lots of short ones available, to handle recessed jack issues in some phone cases.

ED: Here's an eBay one that claims to do what you want, of course reality sometimes differs:

Ed #2: You want a 4-pin, not a 3-pin. There is a ground pin too. So a 3-pin is a normal stereo extension without mic (left/right/ground). Just a clarification for those who are searching on 3-pin.

I'm surprised Monoprice doesn't offer these...

Nitpicking but those are insulators, not pins. The metal parts of the plug are the rings that actually carry stuff.

Bump.

I still haven't found a working cable. Ordered a couple of cables, which stated they were "iPhone compatibile", but the didn't work.

Has anyone else had any luck?

Ah, you don't need the mic. Here you go.

FWIW, you need a TRRS plug extension. Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve. Most standard headphones with no mic or controls are TRS-Tip, Ring, Sleeve.
