Receiving incomplete texts over 160 characters

Now it's not all the time, but I have run into a few instances where I never received parts of a text message over 160 characters. I'll get parts, but would be missing other parts. Not sure how to remedy this, and possibly recover the lost parts I never received.
 
I'm thinking recovering those lost in the ether is not possible.

As to not getting them all, you might want to check with your carrier.
