With a Momentus XT my early 2011 MBP 13" took about 19 seconds to boot SL.

Now I bought another XT for my late 2011 MBP 13" and it takes 25 seconds for Lion.

Is this normal?

I there anything I can do to improve it?

Lion takes a little longer to boot....I have confirmed this on my iMac, MBA and MBP. Nothing to worry about .......Ever tried getting a Windoze machine to boot in 19 seconds?:D

Don't mean to be the devils advocate here but yes I certainly have :)

This plain Toshiba I used for this review took about 10 seconds after BIOS post time. BIOS post time was about 6 to 7 seconds iirc.

Some Windows machines do it faster.

The times displayed above are excluding BIOS post time.

If Windows takes a long time to boot its usually because of the high amount of bloatware that comes on nearly every Windows system.

Fresh Install?

Thanks yes it's a fresh install.

Yes, Lion on my machines seem to take longer to boot. I couldn't stand it and finally installed an SSD in the MBP.

It still takes 18 seconds from the moment I press the power button to the desktop appearing, which still seems long.
