How to access SMB shares with no password in Lion?

Hi there,

I have OS X Lion and want to connect to a NAS thats built into my router.

It does not support username and password access (its open access only), any idea how to do that?

All the instructions on the web and in this forum are about slightly different topics and from what I can read is that the official answer is "it does not work"...

Any ideas?

Sorry, I was not clear..

I do not want to secure the SMB share on my NAS (and I can't on the NAS, however it sounds like from the reply I could do it in OS X).

I want to connect to the SMB share from IS X.

I get an error "The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported. Please contact your system administrator to resolve the problem".

From the forums I was lead to believe that its because there is no authentication on the SMB share? (I've done all kinds of other things thats support to make the SMB client functionality in Lion "backwards compatible").

Any ideas how I could be able to connect to the SMB share from OS X?

The answer was to run this command every time the mac starts;

sudo sysctl -w net.smb.fs.kern_deprecatePreXPServers=0
