I did a couple searches on Google and could not find the answer.

I have a 2011 MacBook Air and the only port it has is the Thunderbolt Port. I know physically it will fit a MiniDisplayPort cable, but is it functional? I want to be able to connect my MacBook Air -> MiniDisplayPort to DVI Cable -> External Monitor (DVI and no Thunderport).

Does this work? Don't want to waste the money on the cable to test it out.
