A typographer has come up with a way to make snide remarks easier than ever before.
*Sarcasm*. </sarcasm>. #Not! Since the dawn of the postmodern age, ironical writers have struggled to imbue the printed word with the nuances of sarcasm. Solutions involve signposting suffixes like "Joke!", so as to spell out any intended irony to those readers too thick to work it out by themselves. (Joke!) Only last year, G2 reported the invention of the "SarkMark", apiece of punctuation that has solved this massive problem once and for all. ;)

In fact, it was such a great idea (not!) that another typographer has come up with perhaps the best solution yet: the "Sarcastic Font", a typeface that renders sarcastic comments in reverse italic script.

Nice...:D

Perhaps there is a need for a way to indicate sarcasm on other sites, but as Raid has expressed so succinctly, we have a way to do it here on MR.
We just need a way to set this as the default style. I don't see a profile option....

Just post in a Waloshin thread, everything there is sarcastic in response.

It is amusing reading a heartfelt response to obvious sarcasm, then somebody replies that "your sarcasm meter is off" or something and you like to think that the stupid person who missed obvious sarcasm knows they were stupid and tries do get smarter in some way, or at least retreats into a live of sad loneliness and doesn't reply to any posts.

Why take that all away from us?

I always think a good bit of punctuation works wonders. Contrast

That'll work! (add extra  for emphasis)

with

That'll work ...

Sarcasm is understood in context, and really if you punctuate or use an appropriate smilie you can't really go wrong.

Agreed. Part of the fun of this place is watching a topic get derailed by the one lone guy who doesn't realize that what he is responding to wasn't meant to be taken seriously.

(And come on...we've all been that guy once or twice.) :D
