I'm trying to reformat my late 2008 MBP in order to run bootcamp. Apparently when it was reformatted last time, it wasn't formatted correctly (not Journaled) so I'm about to do it again. Last time, I was unaware of the Lion recovery assistant and restored to Leopard, then upgraded all the way to Lion. It took up my entire day.
Now I'm trying to do it the easy way. I've found an old 2GB flash drive, and have run the Lion Recovery Assistant installer on it. After successfully completing, it tells me to restart and hold option in order to choose what drive to boot from, something I'm familiar with doing from the past.
However, upon the drive selection screen, I'm only shown my computer, and two EFI Boot options (see attachment). One a hard drive, and one a USB drive. When I select either of them, all it does is hang for a few minutes then boot straight to my OS hard drive and desktop.
Any ideas why this might be? Any other information you need in order to diagnose.
