can TM backup external HD and how

Hi Guys an gals
The question is in the heading. I want to use TM to backup a external HD an which i store my pics. When I tried to setup TM it didn't allow me to deselect the HD from the excluded list.
Hope you know what i mean. If TM cant do which program could so that only the new items get updated and not always the whole libarary needs to be resafed.

I haven't tested extensively, but in a quick check I didn't have any trouble removing an external drive from the excluded list in Time Machine under 10.6, and my home system has a second internal hard drive that Time Machine backs up without complaint under 10.7 (and pretty sure it was okay under 10.6, too). In fact, I think it automatically backs up non-boot partitions if you don't explicitly remove them.

Maybe something got messed up with your TM preferences? You might try rebooting and/or disabling and reenabling TM and see if that makes any difference.
