i was thinking of using some of my Xmas bonus money to buy an iPad 2, but some friends are telling me to wait for the iPad 3.

what would you guys do? :D

thanks.

At this point of the product life cycle, unless it was a spectacular deal, I would hold off until the iPad 3.

My dad was able to pick up a Ipad 2 64gb +3g for $120 off (brand new).... so he bought one.

I say buy now! :)

I'd gotten one back in March, when they first came out, but sold it a few days later because I couldn't justify the expense at the time. It wasn't a real need, so I parted ways with it. TODAY, however, just like you, received a nice Christmas bonus at work, and I've bought it again -- and I couldn't be happier. Plus the Target $50 gift card I got with my purchase was one hell of an incentive. (Their ad says it's $40 but, for some reason, the guy at Target said it was $50 and I wasn't about to be disrespectful and get into an argument with him. ;) )

I'm fully aware iPad 3 is expected to come out sometime in the next 3 to 5 months (Retina Display and LTE, if true, COULD delay things, ya never know), so I'm happy to know that I'll get that much usage from this iPad before a new one comes out. Needless to say, I'll sell this one at that time and use the funds towards iPad 3.

Also, look at how many people held back from buying an iPhone earlier this year, awaiting the new 4" screen iPhone 5 in June/July. A retina, 4G iPad 3 in March/April has yet to be promised, so take that into consideration too.

Go for it!!

Buy now, enjoy for what it is and no one knows how long they'll take, maybe as long as iPhone 4S lol' than you'll be waiting a while.

IPad 3 will be here very soon.
lol, 4 months is an interesting definition of "soon". That's 1/3 of a year.

That said, if the OP can wait, he should. However, buying the iPad 2 now isn't bad, either.

Just do a search and read the posts on this topic. By the time you're finished the iPad 4 will be available.

If you can wait 3 moths until the Ipad 3 comes out, then you probably don't even need an Ipad at all.

Unless there's an essential or compelling reason to buy an iPad now, I think waiting would probably be better. If you have a laptop, you'll be able to do a lot of what the iPad can do anyways.

But then again, let's hope that Apple decides release the iPad 3 in accordance to its usual timeline and not delay the iPad 3 like they did with the iPhone 4S....

unless you're terminally ill I dont know why you'd buy an iPad now because it makes no sense. The next revision will be the most dramatic since the iPad was introduced -- and I guarantee there will be a flood of people trying to unload low resolution iPads the day the iPad three is released.

Where's the iPod 5? Where is the Mac Pro?

If you want to play the waiting game, then do that, but I will enjoy my iPad for the next 1/4 of a year. It is well worth it, and judging by how much I sold my iPad 1 for AFTER the iPad 2 came out, I'd say that I won't lose much money at all.

Exactly! And it's not even a loss because you are getting 3-4 (possibly more?) months' worth of usage.
