Is there an app that functions as a browse and search interface for terminal commands? (with a good search interface)

I envisage something that allows you to type in a search box and the list of matching commands gets narrowed down as you type. The search would use not only on command names but also the descriptions. The app should also describe the syntax of the commands. I'm more interested in an app for offline use, but if there is not an app how about a website?

I know there are many websites that list terminal commands but I can't find any with a good search interface that narrows down the list as you type.

I'd advise getting a book or ebook on bash combined with man command, I've found the O'Reilly books to be very good.

Thanks for the tip, but its mainly a good search interface that I'm after rather than tutorial/manual.
