2011 13" 256gb. still works, black screen is just to highlight the damage.

what a bummer :( i take care of my stuff very well, but my small child (2 yrs old) still managed to step on it - while it was on the couch.

she broke our 50" flatscreen earlier this year. kids are a lot of fun.

Curious --- just how does a 2 year-old break a 50" TV?

Bummer on the MBA, but on the bright side at least you now have a a reason to upgrade?

ETA: didn't notice that it is a 2011.

I would take it in definitely and bring your wild one maybe with another adult. Get back to the genius bar and have your kid make a 20 sec appearance and then have them quickly pulled from the stage.

Kids are fun ... and charming ... and you have to expect bad things when you have them around. Wallets get thrown into the trash and keys flushed into the toilet ... then college tuition comes around before you know it!

Who knows a sympathetic apple employee or manager might be in a good mood especially this week!

Yeah it can't hurt to take it in, although the already busy Apple stores are extremely busy right now (I went today - my first time to see the air in real life, it is even thinner than in pictures) so the employees may be a bit rushed and less likely to accommodate for you when there are dozens of other customers waiting to buy things.

Your 2 year old is alive and healthy. Feel better? :D

Thumbs up! this is always the important thing

But I understand. Not a father myself But have watched my niece enough times. it doesn't matter what you tell the child, especially at 2 -5 years old, they do things you wouldn't think they would.

Like running full tilt towards your TV palms open and shove as hard as they can.

why? because it's there, shiny and dora wanted a high 5

It's gonna get fixed! Just go to Apple and tell them the truth of what happened. This is a great season for people to demonstrate mercy. Go for it! Merry Christmas.

When she gets a laptop for college, just jump on it and say, "HA! NOW WE'RE EVEN!" That should help.

i'd check with homeowners ins. see if you have coverage for that type of thing. My policy has a sub policy just for electronics that covers accidents. $250.00 deductible too :)

I love USAA.

Drum sticks, toys, hands, whole child, cups, plates, kisses..... And that's just for starters.

That said, my TV is holding up surprisingly well to all of the above.

yep - took a rattle-type toy to it, just walked up and whacked it. no chance to react / intervene. replacement tv is wall-mounted. thought my then-one-year-old was more harmless than she was..

took it in this morning, $480 to replace the screen.

Definitely bring the kid. And I speak from experience. Alas.

(By the time kid 2 came along I was among the world's foremost experts on heavy-duty kid-proof iphone/ipad/ipod cases. Kid 1 sort of had the opposite of the midas touch when it came to my electronics. Was like a walking EMP.

Good luck!

EDIT: Whoops -- sorry, didn't see that you had already gone in. You should check your credit card and see what, if any, accidental coverage it has.

Sorry for your loss man. I am wee bit worried though. I just bought a MBP (my first) and the wife is going to have a MBA 13" under the tree. We have a 6 year old girl, but the wife is pregnant with our first boy.... I guess I will have to invest in some anvil cases! :)

Sell the child to the circus, buy cheaper child and put the remaining money towards a new macbook.

Get your revenge by stepping on her most precious toy.
