I would like to try fixing poor battery life by establishing a new phone profile, but the only content I need are old SMS messages, everything else can be pulled from iCloud.

Eventually I decided to export my sms from the backup to a pdf file and make a clean restore on my phone. Better than nothing and fixed the problem
