Slix macrumors 68000 Mar 24, 2010 1,736 2,928 Dec 20, 2011 #2 When shutting down/logging out, there's a checkbox on the dialog that pops up saying "Reopen apps when logging back in". Uncheck that and nothing will open when you log back in.

Close all the apps before you shut down.....I have Thunderbird and safari open on boot nothing else, if you leave it open it will re-open unless: You change this in system preferences BUT I had hassle with it so just close them now.
