Free File Synchronisation Software

Hi everyone,

I'd like some recommendations on MAC OSX freeware I can use to keep my USB stick and my Dropbox synchronised, so any edits or deletions on either file storage mechanism is mirrored on the other.

Extra features wishlist, in priority:
  • Scheduled Analyses and Synchronises
  • Warn if more than x% of one side has been changed
  • Easy-to-use GUI
  • Windows compatible

You could use Carbon Copy Cloner (donation ware) to sync your DB folder to the USB key at scheduled intervals.

I'm not sure what you mean by Windows compatible though? If you format the USB key as FAT32 that could be read by a Windows machine.
 
I did a search for free folder sync software a couple of year ago and this is all I came up with.

I didn't realize that carbon copy cloner could do folder synchronisation. I always thought of it as a disk cloning tool.

I didn't really like any of the free options I found and also decided that file syncing was such a crucial task that I was willing to go for a paid app.

I went for GoodSync. I can't remember why I chose it over Chronosync which seems to be the most popular for this task.

By the way, I also don't understand what you mean by "windows compatible"

Hmmm, will try Carbon Copy Cloner (since it's free :p). Sorry, should have been more specific, I meant something that's cross-platform with Windows, with obvious GUI alterations.

I loved Goodsync when I used the windows version, maybe I'll try it on mac, and perhaps buy it. I agree, free file sync programs are lacking.
