Macbook Won't Charge If Charger Taken Out?!

Hey guys, only posting this because I can't find an answer googling it.....


My 2007 macbook won't charge if I take the charger out then try to put it back in. I have to take the battery out for it to recognize it and get it charged again. I went to apple store and they told me its my battery and couldn't give me an answer ... surprise surprise, so new battery later and I still have the same problem. Any solutions? Thanks!

Try resetting the SMC

It sounds more like a problem with your MagSafe adapter connection. Check out the troubleshooting link in the CHARGING section of the following link. This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:

I agree, you might need a new power cord.

turns out all it needed was a software update incase anyone else is having this problem!

You have the new style charger that needs the software update for 07 MacBooks.

Did you mention it was the style charger ?

I am amazed that the Apple Store did not pick that one up.....
