So my friend gave me her jailbroken iphone 3g unlocked,
before she gave it to me I'm pretty sure she reset her phone to factory settings.

It's been stuck on home screen, &?
I don't know what to do. :(

I don't have the slightest clue about ANY of this stuff.
I don't know how it got unlocked ..I have zero technical info.

I just know it's been unlocked for like a year & a half.

I've been so excited to get it, so I'm pretty upset.
Any help is suuuper appreciated, I'm sure you guys get a thousand of these a day. /:

might have to hacktivate it via redsn0w what firmware is it? Did they make efforts to keep the unlockable baseband. I'm not the best 3g export out there but others will chime in.

personally i'd get back with the friend they should have giving or sold you a working device.

A jailbroken phone cannot be wiped clean like a standard phone. The iphone will get stuck in a loop, as far as i know only way to get out is restoring it completely.

Maybe you can try this to get the info on the firmware download TinyUmbrella, connect phone to usb and start TU, might recognizes it or you might have to put the phone in DFU-mode.

Try these links to read-up on putting it in DFU

Ask your friend how it was unlocked. It might be the ipad bb.
Otherwise, d/l pwnage, make a custom firmware and install in itunes. I suggest you use iclarified for a tutorial.
