Looking for an app that will allow me to select say the back ground behind a subject and selectively remove noise. IPhoto just does the entire image which is not always necessary. Thanks for any info.

iPhoto is very basic when it comes to advanced photo editing. You can try Aperture (the father of iPhoto) or PhotoShop or Pixelmator or Gimp or google.
