Hi,
Am wondering if anyone here could help me which server/storage solution to purchase. Basically there are 3 people in a medium sized office that ideally all need to work off of the same storage space, rather than individual hard drives. We are all running iMac's/MacBook Pros. Ideally it would be RAID enabled, so that if anything happened to one of the drives, it would be backed up sufficiently. 1TB storage would be adequate, but not a restriction. Also the ability to access the files via the web outside of the network would also be a huge bonus.
Now i've had a look and the Netgear Readynas looks like a good solution, as you can get a 4 bay system with 1tb drives in, and also allows other drives to be connected to it via USB etc. However, I was also thinking about second hand Apple X-Serves or maybe a dell server?? We have space in the office for rack mountable systems so that is also an option.
Budget is maximum £1500 ($2200-ish).
If anyone could help that would be a huge help, as I'm really unsure of what the best solution would be for us.
Thanks!
Edd
