Just jailbroke my iphone 4 on 5.0.1 and I'm having a small issue with Bite SMS. Upon opening the app, it freezes for about 8 to 10 seconds and then it is fine. Does anyone have any clue what is causing this or if it can be fixed? My first thought was that it may just be a compatibility issue with the new 5.0.1. Hope they fix this soon.

I had this issue the first time I open the app, but afterwards it's quick again.

Same thing on my 3GS on 5.0.1. Lags upon every opening. I reinstalled, same thing. I didn't like 5.0.1 and went back to 4.3.2 last night... still does it. Must be the BiteSMS verison... 6.1. Going to install an older version.

Glad to see I'm not the only person with this issue. Quick off topic question. I remember in the older version of Bite SMS that you could pull down the conversation in the quick reply box. I don't see this as an option now, can I still turn this option on?

I'm able to do that, but didnt change any of the settings yet so not sure how to.

No imessage on 4.3.2 and I still have lag issues. Bad enough to not use it.

iMessage worked fine for me after I rebooted after the install. I still have the laggy issue, they have some programming to figure out it looks like.

I'm still trying to figure out the best setup between this and lockinfo on my lockscreen. Trying to figure out how to keep the QR on my lockscreen until i respond..even if it goes to sleep, or how to get rid of the actual text message box QR seems to be covering....If i can turn it off, when I "wake" the phone back up I'd like to be able to tap on the sms box on lockinfo to pop up a QR to reply.

Back to 5.5 and it works fine... no lag at all.

I've downloaded 5.5 from about 4 different sources now and every time I install BiteSMS it keeps crashing before it opens. I'm installing it via WinSCP through the Cydia/AutoInstall folder. Any help here? What am I doing wrong?

EDIT:
Well apparently it is impossible to install Bite SMS 5.5 on IOS 5.0.1....hmm. Guess I'm stuck with a laggy bite sms 6.1 in the mean time.

Maybe... I never tried 5.5 on 5.0.1.

Mine keeps freezing and I have to restart my phone. It's happened a few times. Wasn't sure if it was bite sms. I thought it was Springtomize but it's not.

BiteSMS Opening Lag Fix

Figure it's either an issue with the crack or with the iMessage configuration

anyways, I found some versions with lag and some without, I am pretty sure its because of the license check every time you open BiteSMS

When I had 6.0 from xSellize it didn't lag, 6.0 from sinfuliPhonerepo did lag,
in every case 6.1 lags

So I downgraded to the previous version I had which can be found here
http://xsellize.com/topic/172492-k-bitesms-60/

for manual install of a .deb file:
place the .deb file in the var/root/Media/Cydia/autoinstall folder
then reboot twice

another note:
I have found that my settings app freezes if I toggle iMessage setrtings when I have BiteSMS installed, I configure iMessage before I install BiteSMS to avoid the freezing, crashes, etc
from there you can manage most iMessage preferences in BiteSMS

cheers

This eliminated lag issues I was experiencing with many versions of 6.0/6.1

Install this copy of Bitesms v6.0 from xSellize at
http://xsellize.com/topic/172492-k-bitesms-60/

1) Open in mobile safari
2) click the download
3) wait for page to load,
4) open the deb file in iFile [ex. bitesms_6.0.deb]
5) place the deb file in var/root/media/cydia/autoinstall
6) configure iMessage in settings app*
7) reboot your iPhone twice

*BEFORE 2 reboots, go to settings and sign in to (or disable) iMessage. Bitesms may cause SB to crash or lag if you configure after Bitesms installs
If iMessage is authenticated, Bitesms won't interfere when it is installed

Bitesms 6.1/6.0 freezes because
a) it is a crappy version of the crack (checks license each time you launch)
b) it is trying to authenticate iMessage every time you launch the app

The version I posted was cracked by Fabius and it doesn't freeze
whereas the version I got from sinfuliphonerepo DID freeze
(same Bitesms version, different crack)

cheers

Hey there I'm also experiencing the same issue.

Using jail broken iPhone 4S iOS 5.01 with biteSMS 6.1

It freezes momenterally after opening and when you receive a text message while your already have a conversation window open.

Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Same thing happened to me on 6.1 until someone here told us to try updating to 6.2.3beta and seems to fix the problem, at least on my iphone.

I followed what you said step by step Keegan Lodder.
But still freezes for a few seconds apon opening.

Ive installed the latest BETA version and its working fine.

However im using a 14 day trial licence rather then a cracked app.
So your definitely correct when you say it is a crappy version of the crack that checks license each time you launch.

But I installed the version in the link you supplied and still the issue is there.

I just tried doing that.
However i used iSpirit to install the .deb file.

Still no luck.
Still freezes for a few seconds after opening.
I use iMessage and left it signed in prior to the 2 reboots.

Did you remove all Bitesms packages before manually installing the .deb file?

After you install the .deb file (after two reboots) try this

go to cydia>managa>packages
make sure that you now have 'biteSMS' from the BigBoss repo
the difference between this .deb file and others should be that cydia thinks you have the BigBoss package, not the xsellize package, and thus there is no license issue.

If you have traces of an upgraded version of BiteSMS on your iPhone, the latest version will install rather than the v6.0 that I posted,
if you are still experiencing problems, try it again and check the version no.

good luck
