Ok I want to get my First iPad & I'm going to wait for the iPad 3
So the new features I want are
1.Siri
2.Retina Display
3.Better Camera (because the iPad 2's SUCK!)
4.A6 Processor
5.Even Better battery
From all the rumors we've been hearing & from what you personally know, do you think these features will happens so I can have my 'Dream iPad'? And are there any other features that I left out that you guys want?
Also when do you think it'll be released?

Actually, chances are that most of the features you listed are going to happen. Although, of course, nobody on here knows for sure.

To be honest, Siri is pretty useless on an iPad. I mean, I can see maybe a tweaked lesser version of Siri for the iPad, but Siri as a whole is pretty pointless. Notice the iPad doesn't have voice control?

1. Yes (Although I think apple screw iPad 2 owners over this)
2. Definitely
3. Hopefully (Honestly though who really uses them anyway?)
4. I am not sure. What is A6? Quadcore? Probably not happening.
5. If there is a retina and a quadcore they will likely need a better battery for the same life.

I woud also like thinner and lighter. And cheaper :)

And for me to have one.

Why are people so hung up on the cameras? Their only practical use, and the reason they are even there, is for FaceTime. Does anybody hold up a tablet to take a photo or video?

Siri def is NOT pointless

Maybe that's how you feel about Siri but it most definitely isn't pointless.
You can use it with GPS & with the bigger screen on the iPad that's perfect but since I don't have an iPad yet idk exactly what other great things you'll be able to do with Siri but having Siri on the next iPad is a huge selling point

If I had to guess Retina and A6 processors are very likely to happen. Siri, camera and significantly better battery could go either way. Siri is really a server-side service which could be open at any moment to any device so it's up to Apple to decide if their servers are ready.

More interesting question here is what exactly the A6 processor will be? Right now we have Tegra 3 which has a quadcore but its cores look pretty current-gen (1.3GHz A9) On the other hand both Samsung and Qualcomm will be making quadcore processors with A9 cores like Tegra 3 as well dualcore processor with much faster A15 cores. Are four slower cores be better than two faster cores? Also what GPU will A6 use?

Since Apple is sticking with Samsung for manufacturing of A6, it's possible that we could get some idea on leaks from Korea in the future. There were some dead-accurate leaks from Samsung employees on the Korean forum regarding the A5 vs. Exynos performance and it was dead-on.

Better camera is only right

No I wouldn't use it to take all my pics but the iPad is a $500-830 device! And to have a camera that's worse than a $30 phone is sad. There will be a moment where u want to take a pic & you don't have a good camera, iPad should have automatically had a camera at least 5mp…not .7Mp smh

I didn't say Siri was pointless.

I said it's pointless on a device like the iPad. Unless Apple opens Siri to developers or makes GPS navigation integrated into iOS, it's not going to help and pretty much just be a novelty.

Retina display and better battery . Next iPad (4) will be bigger chip .. Same chip for iPhone 5... Eventually it will reach a point where the iMac and iPod touches are ... That the upgrades won't be significant enough to justify 500$ a year for a simple refresh . One or two more iPads and it will plateau

I agree . . . I have a HP Touchpad and don't care about the camera . . . I have camera and a phone with a camera. I can't see holding up the iPad and taking pictures.

Well, I seriously expect Apple to add better cameras. First of all, FaceTime HD: they have been introducing it on the Macs and it wouldn't surprise me that, for the first time ever, FaceTime HD will come to iOS. Maybe not, but there's a small chance.

Second of all: third generation. Usually this means an improvement over the previous generation. Apple didn't put cameras in the first generation iPad, so they would have a new selling-point in the second generation iPad. Perhaps they will now put quality cameras into the iPad.

Third: retina display. Pictures taken with an iPad already look pixelated. If there's really going to be a retina display, than it would be a shame of Apple if they didn't put in higher quality cameras.

I hope that's the improvement list for the iPad 3 because it will mean I won't be bothered about upgrading from my iPad 2:

1. I don't use Siri on my iPhone, so I'm sure I wouldn't use it on my iPad
2. Retina display would be nice, but not a good enough reason to upgrade
3. I have never used my iPad camera for anything except FaceTime and it's fine for that
4. The processor is plenty fast enough for my usage
5. Ditto the battery

I'm wondering what will happen with the body of the new one, no real room for improvement on the current form factor and it will need to use a smart cover, can't see them dropping such a good product

I'm not sure if any of those features are very enticing. It's almost expected to have.

- Retina display
- Siri
- Updated chip & ram (maybe, but Apple has never been a specs competitor)

For some reason I don't see Apple updating the cameras on the iPad but that is just me.

I think that is it, I see them taking the Retina display to the bank when they promote it and of course its going to sell even if there isn't that many upgrades done to it.

For us nerds but for the general public anything Apple does they will eat up and the media is really good at making Apple products sound exciting even when the updates aren't very huge (though I'd consider a retina display a pretty big update especially at that screen size).

pen functionality

i like my ipad, but i always think it would be so much better if it had true
pen interface--capacitative is just not detailed enough. Also--anyone here notice ipad is somewhat fugly. The bezel is hideous and could be replaced by
a non interactive video area. The ipad in 2011 is where the imac was in 2000--it will evolve in fits and starts

Do you know what i ant? A simple LED notification light like every other tablet and phone in the world has had for years.

Apple won't start production on >16GB iPad 2 while mass producing iPad 3s. That doesn't make economic sense . That's like releasing a 2012 Camry with a V8 and deciding to manufacture a 2011 Camry with a 4 cylinder and older technology ...

Of course it'll have everything the first poster said, but I think it'll include Kinect type controls but for iPad size usage. Strange I know but Apple isn't just going to do a simple upgrade. Apple is innovating, anyone can have a fast CPU, retina display, etc. I believe this will catch everyone else off guard, they already have a patent for it. I think this will be included with the iPad 3 that will extend to their computer line(OSX). This in turn will also bring more profits for their computer line/back to life.

I for one would use the crap of something like this. Maybe replace my keyboard if someone say made a rubberized or plastic keyboard that'd fit on the iPad screen, just reduce buttons not normally used and you have yourself a keyboard with actual physical keys.

My 2 cents.

8gb iphone4 alongside the 4s works?

The iPhone is primarily a phone. It will perform other "smart" functions adequately, but it's not intended to function primarily as a media consumption device. An iPad at 8GB is a brick. You know the saying "never say never"? Well, this is the exception. Apple will NEVER make an 8GB iPad. NOT EVER.

You are probably right about that. Perhaps a 4gb & 8gb iPad2 to complete with Amazon, Nook, etc.
