Hey,

I have just bought a 2tb external drive, I currently have a 500gb external drive which is now filled up (with time machine backup and all my other files). I want to move my backups from my 500gb external to my new 2tb one, and then pick off where I have left off when updating time machine.

I'd also move some uneeded things on my 500gb to the new 2tb in order to make space, so I can have that drive as a back up of a back ,

I've read its possible with Carbon Copy Cloner, but not totally sure if its exactly what I want to do, I've also read its not possible to do what I want to do, and i can in some way clone the drive using just OSX, but not total sure how, I'm all very confused!

What solution do you guys think is best?

Unless you need some old versions of files on your current backup, why not just start using the new disk with time machine. It will take a current snapshot of your system.
