I don't know if there were any previous threads about this and I apologize if there were, but how much of this rumor is factual? The rumored $20 billion dollar deal to secure exclusivity in the market is a huge deal. Your thoughts?
Why didn't Verizon jump to this opportunity??
 
The infusion of cash Spring gave Apple was likely for the rights to sell the 4s.

Why would you limit yourself from multiple carriers to one? If anything, Apple should be (and are) working to get the iPhone on more carriers.
 
Apple going from the two biggest carriers to one of the smaller ones for a piddly $20 billion? Yeah, not happening. As has been said, the cash was for Sprint to merely be allowed to sell the iPhone on their network.
 
Happens all the time with other phones. Verizon didn't even have the iPhone until more recently.

Let's just hope it's a bunch of bunk.
 
That was a promise for how much they buy in iPhones over the next few years, not for an exclusivity deal.

How can they predict their market for that much? 20 billion is a big deal even for the larger companies, especially relying on the sales of 1 specific model.

It's a gamble they were obviously willing to take, seeing as they sold out very fast, I doubt it's going to be a problem.

Because every network that sells the iPhone has had it be their best selling phone of all time. It is a gamble, yes, but a far safer one than others Sprint made in the past (*cough* WiMax *cough*)
