upgrading my Macbook to 4GB

I am thinking of upgrading my Macbook 2.16 core 2 duo to 4GB of memory. However, the guys at Micro center told me my Macbook won't recognize it. I'm not sure if this is true or if they just want me to buy another Mac.

Anyway, has anyone done this?

Also, Will Lion run on 2GB of memory? I only intend to run Xcode. Anyone try this? thanks!
 
It will run on 2gb of memory, but extra memory will certainly help - especially on Lion.

All MacBooks from late 2007 onwards support a maximum of 4gb RAM, so unless you bought the original 2006 or mid 2007 model, you'll be fine. These earlier models only support 2gb officially, but you can get it to work with 3gb apparently. Make sure you buy the same type of RAM that's currently in your MacBook so it's compatible.

It is a mid-2007 model.
