Thunderbolt question

Hi,
does the port act as an i/o device?
let say i have a video camera with hdmi output, then i hook it up with a thunderbolt to hdmi converter into my macbookpro. can my laptop reads the input?

Thunderbolt is similar to the PCI desktop expansion cards. To input video into it, you'd need the correct device to take the HDMI signal and turn it into the signal the Thunderbolt is wanting.
