DFU mode I need help

I got an iPhone 2g that I can't put on DFU mode. I tried all day yesterday watched YouTube videos,did everything and it just wouldn't go into dfu mode...I even tried downloading recboot or whatever its called but they put it into recovery not DFU. I really don't know what to do if someone could help... :/
