Truly remarkable how bad the thermal paste job was. It's not hard to dissemble. It's worth doing particularly on out of warranty older machines. Night and day difference.

I was idling at 70c!! Any activity put me close to 100. I did not experience any shutdowns.

Look at this mess. Q tips for perspective.

Now idling at 40-45c. 2.4 Santa rosa non unibody. Still alive and kicking
