I recently bought a Macbook Pro preinstalled with Lion. My question is can i somehow transfer this to my iMac which is currently running Snow Leopard or must i buy a copy from the App store. Thanks in advance for any help.

I think you will have to buy it, but to find out hold down option while you launch the app store then click on install for lion and see if it asks you to pay for it.
