Im an imovie11 user and am trying out FCPX. I don't like the constant background rendering in FCPX though as it slows the editing process down. Also I could edit a clip, it will render, then I could make a change, meaning t has to render that same clip all over again!
Rather then import and wait ages for the transcode to ProRes 422, what are the drawbacks of importing as normal MOV or MP4 footage, and then turning off background rendering following the below?

Would I be able to import without transcoding, create my project, and then leave all the rendering to the end before final export, or uploading to YouTube?
