Hello All,

I'm having some issues with the absinthe JB..I'm not sure how to shut off the vpn...

Passcode is off. Is that all I need to get the absinthe to work?

The issue is when I start up the absinthe jailbreak and the jailbreak button does not highlight, which does not allow me to jailbreak the phone....

I'm really lost and confused...

my macbook is updated to current version and im running 5.0.1 on my iphone 4s.
Sorry for the kiddie question and i'm going to continue to search threads for the solution...

thanks in advance for any help

Here is a picture of the jailbreak button not lighting up..

Still reading and searching....

weird stuff indeed...
does the usb cable work? make sure is the only USB connected device and if it is, change it to another port?
maybe their server was offline?
set the phone to WIFI and make sure iTunes has quit completely before opening the jb app (turn off wifi sync on the phone also to maybe help).

If all above is fine, maybe run the 0.1.2-2 version of absinthe instead?

Thanks for the reply carlanga

USB cable is in good shape and works with iphone to charge battery and connect to itunes....

I changed ports for the usb, Quit itunes, Removed all music from phone to provide plenty of battery space and still no luck....

also turned off wifi sync before I started the app and still nothing..
autolock-never
pass code lock - Off
Restrictions-off
celluar data -on
vpn-not connected...

Also tried the other versions of absinthe for mac and still same issue....

do you have any type of firewall set up? maybe that's the issue?
if not then change computers and see if that works.

figured it out! well, at least in my case.

so, after doing random searches, I found out that a lot of people were having some sort of problem restoring their phones as I was, apart from the jailbreaking problem. (A problem I was temporarily solving running Black Ra1n when I had to do a restore)

Apparently, it has to do with an app I got off Cydia when I had my previous iPhone 4 jailbroken. The app is "Wi-Fi Sync". You need to completely uninstall it and after I did that and restarted my computer, it worked!

I am not in the process of jailbreaking!

Glad you got to the bottom of it and more importantly posted your solution so other people can find it if need be!

Update iTunes to the latest version if you haven't already done so. Try running absinthe.app on the desktop to see if the phone gets recognized. Other than that I can't really think of anything else.

yeah, thanks mate!

it's all very random.

i had a problem restoring my phone, and jailbreaking, and I never thought the two of them would be linked.

but somehow, this particular rogue app was making the phone unreadable to Absinthe. Once I uninstalled that app (using the Terminal, because it's not a typical app) it was over!

Before that, I'd literally tried over 20 times to jailbreak my phone; all unsuccessfully.

Hi I Have the same problem, i think i did install wifi sync in the past, i do not how to uninstall it, can you tell me how to do it using Terminal...
Thanks

Ok never mind i figured it out by downloading the uninstaller from the devloper's website...and voila i am able to jailbreak it..
i did upgrade to Ios6 beta and wanted to downgrade and jailbreak back again...but everything is fixed now...
Thanks...
