iTunes question

Hey everyone,
I downloaded some music of the internet (it's all legal I assure you) in Safari. Safari then saves the music to my downloads and opens it with iTunes. My question is can I delete the files in my downloads folder and keep it in my iTunes folder?
Thanks for responses.
Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question.

You can if you have the bottom checkbox checked in iTunes > Preferences:
attachment.php
