Restore iPhone 3G Back To iPhone 4S

Guys,

I have just bought my Girlfriend a iPhone 4S... she currently has an iPhone 3G, can i take a backup of the 3G and restore it onto the 4S? I'm debating it due to such a difference in iOS.

Yes, it just backs up apps, data, contacts and such, not the OS.

+1. You should have no problem at all getting her data back. I will say however that whenever possible(in regards to restoring) it's always best to start as new.
