So I bought a used 2010 13" MBA on craigslist yesterday as it was sold "as-is" for VERY cheap due to the "9" key malfunctioning.

Symptom: When you turn the computer on, it is as if the 9 is stuck pressed, and the log in password field fills up with 9s right off the bat and it keeps trying to add more until you click in the box with the cursor.

Then you can delete all the 9s and enter your password, the only problem is that the 9 key no longer functions. It is physically perfect in EVERY way, but no 9s are made when you push it.

I pried the key off to make sure it looked good underneath and it appears perfect.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

I do not have overly extensive computer repair experience, but I have taken apart my iMacs and Macbook Pros to add things, look around, etc.

How difficult is the topcase replacement?

Will this topcase work on my 2010 13" MBA ?

Thanks guys
