I am interested in buying an SSD for my MBP 2010 15 inch Core i5 machine. I am planning to buy OCZ Vertex 3 240GB. Is that a good SSD to buy for it since the 2010 MBP only supports SATA II? Thanks.

Overall yes since you can also use it in a future Mac later on.

Best is a relative term. Around here the Samsung 830, Intel 510 (and mane the upcoming 520..Drool, actually pretty much any SSD Intel makes), and Crucial M4 are the hands down favorites, as they seem to be more reliable and have less issues in the Mac realm. I have a Corsair and no complaints. Lots have OCZ and OWC, but most would recommend against he OCZ due to problems early on with firmware and compatibility/ stability.

Also the technology is backwards compatible, so if a good price on a SATA III is to be had don't overlook it.
