Dark splotches

Will apple replace an iPhone if when viewed at different angles you see dark splotches on the screen? I thought on of the draws was in plane switching.
 
When I tilt the phone at different angles I can see spots where it looks like the display is messed up. It's only on white or really light screens. It looks fine when looking at the screen straight on.
 
It almost looks like when you press on a liquid crystal display and you see the liquid move. When I look at the phone at an angle i see what look like waves in the display.

It's very hard to put the issue to words. And I'm not sure I can capture this with a photo
 
Genius replaced it right away. Only problem was the replacement was completely dead. Had to wait like 10 minutes for it to charge enough to even turn on.
