Somewhere Back In The Long Ago
I have recently purchased a 4 bay caddy (see attached images) and a 7200 WD 750GB HDD.

Before I transfer my entire library to this drive, I have a question.

1) Is the drive and the USB connection (connected to my TC) going to be fast enough to stream music without problems over my wifi network?

Don't want to export it only to find it's slow, or unusable.

USB 2.0 offers up to 37 MB/s, compressed and uncompressed music has a data rate of less than 1 MB/s.
A USB 2.0 HDD connected to an AEBS or TC via USB is limited to approx. 10 MB/s, be it via WiFi or 10/100 Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet.

You might also have video content, and possibly even more than one user. But chances are you won't even come remotely close to running out of bandwidth. That said, I'd do the library copy to the drive via USB attached to your computer first.

Thanks both, yes I am going to copy over hardwired...The drive is certainly fast, and the caddy seems to cope well too...Only criticism of it is that the fans are a little noisy, but I can turn them down, or off completely if it really drives me nuts.
