I seem to always just let my ipad2 go in the sleep mode. Is this bad? Should I at least turn it off 1 night a week?

How often do people turn off their iPhones? I think I turned mine off 3 times in 1 yr lol.

You never really NEED to turn it off, but every now and then you will bump into errors that the quick fix is to turn it off then turn it back on. This happened to me once when an app was crashing, and another time when I was trying to turn on my iCloud back up.

THIS IS NOT A FIX ALL! But sometimes it works.

never unless as others have mentioned you run into some issue and need a full reboot. it's meant to be an instant-on device.

Thanks, yea I know it's meant to 'stay on' but for how long ? Lol. I have never turned off my iPhone except to restart.

Anyone else who has never turned off their iPad ?

I've never turned mine off. The odd time it seems a bit 'tired' I'll clear all apps from memory and do a hard restart. But it hasn't been turned off since a week after it was launched...

Probably once or twice since I've had it! Mostly on standby only, hasn't seemed to do it any harm

What do you mean: turn off ? Is that possible ?

Ok; now you saw the 10th variation of the same joke.

But actually I switch off my iPad or iPhone may twice a year ... actually I did that last weekend when my iPad-Safari-Browser behaved very strange while reading MR. And killing the app didn't solved it. So I power cycled the device.

But really really rare.

Another reason to turn it off is that you would not be using if for a few days in a row. That doesn't happen often but I didn't take it with me for a long weekend, had my KFire, so I turned it off and put it in my dresser for a few days.

I've never turned it off, just rebooted few times as other have. I guess if I wasn't going to use it for few weeks I would, but honestly who has an iPad and doesn't use it all the time :)

Does upgrading iOS count , or rebooting it due to crashed apps.

if so, on crashed apps alone I'd say I turn it off at least 4 times a day.

Otherwise, it's not been off since I 1st turned it on

I never turn mine off.

When I'm charging it I always close all the apps and then turn it into airplane mode in the settings which seems to give it a quicker charge.

I generally turn my iPad off before I go to bed. I honestly do it more for battery saving than anything. My iPad stays at home while I'm at work, so I figure why leave it on all day. Doing this I get about 2 weeks out of a single charge.

I turn mine off if it's going to be in my car for hours in the cold just to maybe preserve battery. But it's on 95% of the time. :apple:

I never "Routinely" turn of any of my iDevices. Out side of rebooting, there really is no need to.

Hmm never thought about airplane mode, that's a good idea.
