Hi all
Brand new poster, so I hope i'm posting in the right area.
I have a 24" iMac that I bought in 2009. I think it's running 10.5.6 Snow Leopard. It won't boot up. I tried booting in safe mode as per Apple help instructions on their website. No good. I then tried re-setting PRAM & NVRAM from their instructions also. Still no joy.

I did the safe mode boot where you can see what the errors are, and got this message:
disk0s2: I/O error [level 3] [Read UID 0] [Facility com.apple.system.fs] [errtype IO] [ErrNo 5] [IOType read] {PBlkNum 786] {FSLogMsgID 839766036] [FSLogMsgOrder

then this one below:
disk0s2: I/O error [level 3] [Read UID 0] [Facility com.apple.system.fs][devnode root_device] [mountPt /] [FSLogMsgID 1640250660]*

Anyone know what I should try next? I have lost the OS disc that came with the computer
Thanks in advance
