Bar code scanning software

Hi,

I'm looking for software to be able to scan bar codes, like what you do when you go into some gyms. (A "check in" type of scan)

Is this possible or perhaps on an iPad/iPod/iPhone?
 
Open the App Store in iTunes and enter "barcode" as search terms, it will you give several dozens of apps.
Or is that not possible/working for you?
