Problem Activating iPhone 3gs

so the story is that about two years ago i bought an iphone 3gs in the USA and then moved back to israel it was jailbroken and unlocked. a couple of days ago my younger brother updated it to the latest version so now its stuck in the activation screen and i cant use not as a phone and not as an ipod.
can someone please give me a step to step guide on how i can activate my phone with no sim so its usable again as an iphone or as an ipod?

Not sure if the latest Redsn0w will hactivate it. If not, you can downgrade it to 4.1, then hactivate it with redsn0w to by pass emergency/activation screen.

is there currently a way to downgrade the version 5.0.1 without having previously saved shsh?
