Activating used iPhone?

I was considering buying a used iPhone and was wondering if I would still be required to get a data plan with it. I wouldn't see why it would be any different from activating any other used phones.

You have to get a data plan with the iPhone. There is no way around it.

What carrier?
If you're on post paid monthly plan on AT&T, Verizon or Sprint USA then iphone data is mandatory.

I am on Verizon, so even if its used eh? That seems to be ridiculous.

Yep, sucks but it's their rules.
You can buy a used iPhone and use it on prepaid AT&T, h2o, red pocket or other gsm prepaid us carriers without a data plan.

Have you thought about your other options like not even getting a phone?
