I know 4G and Quad Core mean better and faster, but I can explain the Retina Display:

If you look at a computer screen, you see pixels. On a Retina display, the pixels are so small and close together that it's very difficult (if not impossible) to see the individual pixels when you hold the product at a normal length.

It's like the difference between the old TVs and the flatscreen ones. You can see the image on both, but when you look at one of the older ones (especially after using a flatscreen for a while) you see a much less clear image and can see the little dots that are used to make the image.

Quad-Core means your "device" would have 4 cores on the processor to handle more work flow efficiently.

LTE stands for Long Term Evolution and is just a fancy way of saying "Faster 3G speeds"

Retina display simply put is a high DPI display with superior clarity.
 
Quad Core = more powerful.
LTE = 4G. Faster data connection.
Retina Display = double screen resolution.

Hope that's enough.

LTE = 4G vs. current 3G speeds

And what's the benefit of removing the home button?

The picture does not show the home button, so some readers are concluding that the Home Button has been removed. It is also plausible that the iPad was probably in Landscape orientation, so you wouldn't be able to see the Home Button in that shot.

That's still wrong. Increase in multitasking ability due to the extra two cores is more accurate. "increase in power" implies that everything will run faster, which isn't necessarily true. The software will need to be written to take advantage of the extra cores.

If the performance of each individual core has improved, THEN you'll have an increase in power :)

I didn't mean power as faster clock rate, but that potentially you can do more faster (still not twice as much unless an impossible jump in raw speed).
 
Cores on a processor are like lanes on the freeway. More "lanes" means traffic moves more quickly and easily on the "freeway" to and from the cpu to other internal components.

LTE refers to a new standard in cellular communications. The short answer to an inquiry about this feature is faster internet speeds when you buy the version of the iPad that talks to ATT, Verizon, etc... This factor doesn't affect the Wi-Fi only versions.

Apple coined the term "retina display" becuase screens with this technology trick our eyes into thinking that we're looking at a printed page. With other screens people can typically perceive the pixels or "dots" when they get up close or when they zoom in on things. The dots in a retina display are too small to perceive.

He asked for it to be simply explained. I did it as simple as possible. If someone more technologically advanced asked, I would have explained it differently. And its better explained as a increase in performance, not power. Power is different.
