Broken iPad 2 screen, wait for iPad 3?

Hello,

As the thread title says, I broken the dropped my daughter's iPad 2, her Christmas present no less, and broke the screen. Anyway, Apple store said they would replace it with a new iPad 2 but would have to charge $279. I'm wondering if I wait until the iPad 3 comes out will they still be exchanging with iPad 2's or might they exchange for a comparable iPad 3. Any thoughts or

Thanksexperiences from when the iPad 2 came out?
 
Plenty of refurbished iPad 2's to give you or fixing the screen. You will not be getting the 3 as a replacement. Sorry.
 
Apple ONLY replaces the same model. They will not even change you into another color
 
not a chance they will give you an iPad 3 in trade. i'm sure they'd be selling iPad 2's for a while yet...so will have plenty of refurbs for you if you pay the $279. personally, if your ipad is not usable, then i would for sure pay the $279 and get a new one now.
