Just looking for clarification on the Thunderbolt Display....can I use it (and none of the other features) only as an external display on a 2010 iMac that doesn't have Thunderbolt? I don't have a need to play sound, use the iSight, ethernet, or anything else off of it. Just the external display part.

As I understand it...I can only plug in the iMac to the Apple Cinema Display, and I could use the TBD on my Macbook Pro.

Thanks.

You can only use the Apple Thunderbolt Display (ATD) with TB equipped computers. The 2011 iMac was the first machine with TB. You can still use the ACD.

I have a 2009 iMac and the 2011 MBA. I bought the ATD and can use it with my MBA only. I do plan to get a 2012 iMac once it is released. If things stay constant... I should be able to use the ATD along with my new '12 iMac in a dual monitor configuration.
