I'm wondering what I need to buy so I can watch movies from my laptop on my TV. I have a 2009 Macbook Pro Version 10.6.8 and the processor is 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.

I think what I need is the Mini Display Port to VGA with the PC to Video EZ adapter with USB power cable.. however I am not certain and do not want to go and buy it if I don't need it. Thanks to anyone who can help me!

P.S- I have a Samsung Plasma 490 Series TV.

You don't even need that... I have my rig going with a MiniDisplayPort to HDMI cable, and an output minijack that goes to a surround sound system.

Thank you all for the replies.

balamw- that will work with my macbook? I am looking at the photo and do not see where it would connect with my laptop (besides the audio jack)

/user/me- I'm a little confused by your post. What exactly would I need? can you give me a link? I'm not good when it comes to technology at all. What do you mean by rig?

I use that cable plus the Apple miniDisplayPort -> VGA adapter for my 2008 MB and 2009 MBP. I only have two HDMI and they are both taken.

If I got that, what else would I need to buy to connect to it?
I would plug in the USB part to the laptop but then what?

It's not USB. It's mini DisplayPort.

The other end would need a standard HDMI cable.

Even though the adapter supports audio, I'm not sure your Mac does, so you may need an audio cable.
