Ok i have a question about the usb 3.0 on the Nikon d800........will i be able to import the photos and the video from it on to my Imac with usb 2.0 ports?

Of course. USB 3.0 devices are backwards compatible with lower versions.
 
no go with D800 import into Macbook Pro

I have a Macbook Pro early 2011 running Snow Leopard. I've had no luck getting my mac to "see" the D800 attached to the USB 2 ports. Reading the CF and SD cards of course works just fine. That being said, I prefer to keep them in the camera. So it would appear that I might need to upgrade to Lion?

NOTE: also running Windows on my Macbook and Windows has no problem at all "seeing" the D800. Currently, that is how I copy the files to my mac partitions. Still, it would be nice if my Mac could smarten up...
